Breadcrumbs


Last week when my other half travelled for a long weekend I was left with half a stale loaf that would go to waste if I didn’t do something about it. I ended up making breadcrumbs with it and bread chips with the off cuts.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 150° fan.

  2. Cut off the crust of the bread, cut in small pieces about 1-2 cm in size.

  3. Process in a food processor for 2-3 minutes until there aren’t and big pieces left.

  4. Place the breadcrumbs in an oven tray and spread evenly.

  5. Bake for 20 minutes, stir and continue to bake further 15 minutes.

  6. Let it cool and strore in an air tight container at room temperature or in the freezer. It keeps for a long time either way.

For the bread chips, drizzle olive oil and season with salt. Bake in the oven 10-15 until they are crisp and enjoy with soups.
