Antalya - local food

We have been away for a week in Turkey. Spend the weekend in Antalya and I couldn't help but share the local food we had in two restaurants.

1st we had lunch in Sisci Ramazan, which is a very small local restaurant. In the branch we went to almost everybody was ordering the shish kofta made from goats and lamb meat along with piyaz a butterbean dish with onions, tomato, eggs and tahini sauce. Food is served with rocket salad and carrot and red cabbage salad. There is a review of the restaurant in Istanbulfood website.

We we had dinner at 7mehmet which we came across from an article by Vedat Milor. It was chosen as the best restaurant in Turkey in the article, unfortunately article is only in Turkish.

7mehmet is a family friendly restaurant, our daughter enjoyed drawing and colouring in between the courses while we enjoyed the food and the Raki taking our time.

We found the food exceptionaly good; not a fault in any of the food we ordered. Like in most of the Turkish restaurants they bring all the mezes on a tray and you choose what you'd like to order. My daughter ordered stuffed wine leaves and borlotti beans and both she finished on her own. We even ordered one more serving of borlotti beans for her later on.

We had so much meze that we were so full even before the main course; so we ordered only one chop shish and shared it between 3 of us.

Deserts were delicious as well, we ordered ekmek kadayifi for me and my husband and shared it and our daughter had her favorite sutlac, turkish rice pudding.

Now we are back and I can't wait to dive into cooking, missed the kitchen so much while we were away. I will be cooking Ottolenghi's leek and beetroot walnut salad tonight.

In the meantime I have participated in a competition at "thehappyfoodie" and created a board on pinterest of all the Ottolenghi inspired dishes that I cooked and here is a link to it.
